 TSWBAT

  • Stands for “The student will be able to”

 

  • This phrase must begin each objective

 

  • The formula for the objective has 3 parts.

 

Part 1: 

The students will be able to________________________ (insert a music concept or skill)

Examples:

  • Sing in tune
  • Keep a steady beat
  • Match pitch
  • Create a map of the form of….

Examples that will NOT work:

  • Sing
  • Play
  • Dance
  • Understand
  • Learn

Part 2:

While__________________ (insert what the conditions or what the students will be doing while working on the music concept)

Examples:

  • While listening to Bolero by Ravel
  • While modeling teacher in marching to Yankee Doodle Dandy
  • While listening to Lift High the Cross and using geometric shapes to create a map of the of the song
  • While modeling teacher in playing a drum and listening to This Land Is Your Land

Examples that will NOT work:

  • While moving around to the music
  • While following teacher’s directions
  • While thinking about the music

Part 3:
