Providing copies of\u00a0PowerPoint<\/strong>\u00a0slides to students has been practiced in higher ed since the advent of PowerPoint\u00a0itself.<\/p>\n

But, did you know that you don’t have to make it\u00a0too easy\u00a0for your students? You don’t have to give them your\u00a0slide notes<\/strong>\u00a0as well.<\/p>\n

Here’s a little trick I learned years ago that bears repeating:<\/p>\n

You can share your slides in a format that\u00a0encourages\u00a0students to TAKE NOTES while you make the presentation.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Print to PDF<\/h5>\n

Print to PDF with three slides to a page produces something like this:<\/p>\n

See? Students can read the slide, see illustrations, etc. and have space to take notes on what you’re saying too!<\/p>\n

Saving it as a PDF reduces the likelihood that your presentation will be repurposed\u00a0without your consent\u00a0and makes for a smaller file size. Students can then print the file (on their dime)\u00a0or load it into an app\u00a0and add their own annotations.<\/p>\n
