No. Your Chalk&Wire account will be set up after you complete the second week of your first course.
Your e-portfolio work is 100% private. Not even your instructors can see your work until you submit it to them. When you reach the end of your program, you will share your e-portfolio with your Program Director. If you choose, you may share your e-portfolio with others by sending them a secure URL link – but that is optional and solely up to your discretion.

Chalk&Wire accounts are set up by CUNE after you complete the 2nd week of your first course.
If you cannot access Chalk&Wire open an Incident Ticket with the help desk.
Authentication between Chalk&Wire and Blackboard is tied to your email address. The addresses must match for you to access Chalk&Wire from Blackboard links. Blackboard defaults to your CUNE.ORG email address.
Portfolios are automatically generated the first time you click a Chalk&Wire Assignment link from within Blackboard.
Contact the help desk. Tell them your Chalk&Wire account has expired. They will renew your account for 1 year.
The Chalk & Wire links will only appear in your individual Blackboard courses. They will not appear on the My Institution landing page.
Many programs of study have multiple portfolios associated with them. Sometimes it is a separate Professional Portfolio used to house certain artifacts of learning. Other times groups of courses that are shared among different programs are housed together in one common portfolio (in this case, you will not necessarily be enrolled in all the courses nor are you required to submit work to them).
Groups of courses that are shared among different programs are housed together in one common portfolio. You will not necessarily be enrolled in all the courses nor are you required to submit work to them all. Your grade is not affected by the presence of these extra courses in the portfolio.
You may continue using your account after graduating until the account expires by going to the external Chalk & Wire. Log into the site using the password you established when you first activated your account. (Tip: you may have set the same password you used for logging into your online courses. ) If it does not work, contact the CUNE Helpdesk.
First, be sure you are correctly spelling your instructor’s name.
Do Not use salutations (i.e. Dr., Mr., Mrs., etc).
If this does not work, please contact CUNE Helpdesk and let them know who you are, what program you’re in, your instructor’s name and the course they teach. Once the support team has verified the instructor’s information, their name may be added to the assessor list.
It is possible that you uploaded work but did not submit it for assessment.
Submitting work is a two-step process:
- Upload.
- Submit.
All Chalk&Wire assignments have submission requirements which must be met before the ✓ Submit button will turn GREEN and allow the process to continue. Be sure you have read and followed the instructions carefully. View the Two-Step Submission Tutorial here.
If you need further assistance, contact the CUNE Helpdesk.
If your Mentor’s name is not on the Assessor List, please contact the CUNE Help desk. Tell us your name, program, mentor name, mentor e-mail address. Once we’ve verified the Mentor with your Program Director, their name will be added to the assessor list.
First, be sure they have checked their junk mail folder. They should look for a message from “Chalk and Wire Portfolio”.
Next, if your Mentor cannot find an email with which to access Chalk&Wire, we need to verify that the correct email address has been provided. Please contact the CUNE Help desk with the mentor’s name and e-mail address.
Once the e-mail address has been verified, you may use the Retrieve a Lost Invitation option on the Chalk&Wire login page.
- Go to Chalk&Wire Lost Invitation Page
- Enter your Mentor’s verified e-mail address.
- Click Recover My Invitation.
- An e-mail will be sent to the mentor with “Your Invitation” in the subject line.
- The mentor may use the e-mailed link to access Chalk&Wire.
- Chalk&Wire works best in the Google Chrome browser.
