Films on Demand

Need media for a class?

Many of our faculty members are already using documentary films or film clips from Films on Demand in classes or as supplemental material. If you are unfamiliar with this great resource, read on. Films on Demand (FoD) is a subscription resource that Link Library provides to Concordia. Our subscription to FoD covers any educational use of the thousands of films in the collection: art, health, geography, language, history, sociology, math, business, TED talks, PBS films and much more. Whatever your subject area, it is worth searching the FoD collection for video material to support your presentation.

After creating free FoD account, users may create playlists of complete films or short segments from within films. You might even create a playlist for each class! FoD provides direct links to films, film segments and playlists for easy posting in Blackboard or sharing by email. Just be sure to use the URL shown in a box on the page, rather than the URL from your browser’s address bar. That way, students will be able to view the films anywhere, using their CUNE email username and password to get access from off campus. A how-to video is here: http://screencast.com/t/MCLoPNXXEy.
