  • Assignment: Use the Internet or go to the library and gather information on Zoltán Kodály and be prepared to discuss your findings at the next class

  • Class discussion on Zoltán Kodály
  • Zoltán Kodály PowerPoint
  • Visit from Professor Bernard Tonjes – Explanation of Required Observation hours
  • Kodaly YouTube videos that demonstrate the Kodaly process (upper level and elementary)
  • Kodaly teaching demonstration by Prof McMahan
  • Split into groups to begin working on creating a Kodaly video
  • Assignment Part 1: Work with your team to create a short movie using one of the Trailer templates in iMovie or Vimeo The video should tell the story of Kodaly, his music education philosophy and practical applications for the classroom.
  • Assignment Part 2:  Using the code given to you watch the Kodaly video in EdPuzzle, answer the questions, then submit.

  • iMovie Kodaly class presentations
  • Kodaly teaching demonstration by Prof McMahan
  • Students work together and come up with an idea for how to teach a song using Kodaly for elementary; then for secondary
  • Assignment: Assignment: Use the Internet or go to the library and gather information on Carl Orff and be prepared to discuss your findings at the next class

  • Orff YouTube videos that demonstrate the Orff process (elementary and secondary)
  • Orff teaching demonstration by Prof McMahan
  • Split into groups to begin working on creating an Orff PowerPoint
  • Assignment Part 1: Work with your team to create a PowerPoint using the rubric given to you. The PowerPoint should tell the story of Orff, his music education philosophy and practical applications for the classroom
  • Assignment Part 2:  Using the code given to you watch the Orff video in EdPuzzle, answer the questions, then submit.
