Final Assignment for MuEd 201

Due on or before Tuesday, December 13, 2016 @ 11:59 pm

Write a detailed Philosophy of Music Education. Base your personal philosophy of music education on the following areas:

  • Philosophy of Zoltan Kodaly
  • Philosophy of Carl Orff
  • Philosophy of Emile-Jacque Dalroze
  • Philosophy of Edwin Gordon
  • Philosophy of Behavior and Classroom Management
  • Philosophy of Assessment
  • Philosophy of Integrating the Faith

Create an introductory paragraph for the VERY beginning of your paper that states the fact that this is your own personal philosophy of music education and why you believe music education is important.  In this introduction indicate that you will be listing the various areas of music education that you believe need to be addressed in a music education classroom.

State your philosophy positively. In other words, tell us what you do believe, and why.

There may be instances where you need to write about something in which you do not believe. If you do so, it’s still important to be positive in the way you write and to state why.

This is your philosophy but it should not be based on feelings. Rather, it should be based on the elements you embrace that come from sound education research and practice.

 Format:

Your introductory paragraph (see above)

Write a paragraph that explains the basis for each philosophical area listed above.

You must use Times New Roman, font size 12. This is the professional standard.

Then you may use bullet points that support each philosophical area. If there is a bullet point that might need a little more explanation, write a brief sentence and put it in parenthesis after the specific bullet point.

With respect to the paragraph and the bullet points you may not use the exact wording in the philosophy web. You must state your philosophical ideas in your words.

Your Philosophy of Music Education paper must be submitted in Word or Pages.   PDF format will be not be accepted.

Remember that your philosophy of music education will be uploaded on to your professional WordPress site.

Also remember that principals, administrators and school boards will be reading your philosophy to determine what you know and believe regarding music education. Therefore, think of your audience when you write your paper.

After your philosophy is graded you will upload it to your WordPress site.

In the process of writing, please email, call or text if you have questions.

There will be no further assignments during the last week of class.
