Checkpoint 1: Application for Admission to the Education Program
- When? – Complete during the semester you are enrolled in EDPS 210
- What? – This application, often called the Goldenrod form, should be distributed during EDUC 201. Additional copies can be obtained from Mrs. Bauer in THOM 214A.
- Admission Requirements
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75
- Successful completion of EDUC 201 and EDPS 210 with a C or better
- Earn a grade of C or better in all education courses taken to date
- Completion of a background check and Felony/Misdemeanor Statement showing no criminal record (typically completed prior to MUED/EDUC 201 field experiences)
- 3 Faculty recommendation forms completed and on file Recommendations for Admission into Teacher Education
- Successful Admission to the Education Program Interview
- Education Program Interview
- Students must be enrolled in or have passed EDPS 210 to complete the admission interview
- Information about signing up for interviews will be announced in all Education foundation courses
- When you sign up for interviews, you will choose between an LTD or Public School interview
- Any student considering pursuing an LTD must complete the LTD interview
- Completing an LTD interview does not prevent you from teaching in a public school
- Interviews are conducted during the fall and spring semesters
- CUNE education faculty members, school administrators, and teachers lead each interview
- Prior to your interview, you must have distributed all 3 faculty evaluation forms, with each faculty member signing the back of your Application for Admission to Education Form (Goldenrod form)
- Please arrive to your interview in professional dress (like a teacher) with your completed Application for Admission to Education Form (Goldenrod form)
- If you successfully pass your interview, the interviewers will sign your Application for Admission to Education Form (Goldenrod form) and will send it to the Student Life Office to check for disciplinary infractions / probation.
- Education courses outside of the foundations level require you to be admitted to the program in order to enroll.
